A footed scallop shell dish by Bruce Fox, the American mid-century metalsmith celebrated for his sculptural cast metalwork in shell, leaf, and fruit forms (he designed the iconic shell pieces for the Wilton Company). The fan of ribs radiates from a fluted hinge up to a softly waved edge, hand-finished and bearing Fox's scratched script signature on the reverse. Substantial and quietly sculptural, with the muted silver-grey glow of aged metal. Lovely as a catchall for keys and jewelry, a soap dish at the sink, or set out with olives and nuts.
