A hand-decorated Satsuma-style jardinière in the fishbowl form, richly painted with a geisha garden scene — figures in traditional dress gathered along a waterside landscape with sailboats, blossoming trees, and Mount Fuji beyond — and a floral panel on the reverse, all finished with heavy gilt detailing and a lotus-band rim. Includes a carved ebonized wood stand. A wonderful decorative statement as a planter, a vase for branches, or a display piece.
