An Italian Florentine plaque in the old manner — a Dutch-style still life of fruit and a celadon urn, set into a creamy gessoed oval edged in twisted gilt. The soft abrasions and gold rubbed thin at the edges aren't wear so much as the point; the Florentine workshops antiqued these by hand and called the imperfections character. Lovely propped on a shelf or hung in a cluster.
