An early Spode blue-and-white transferware platter in a chinoiserie floral pattern — a flowering peony and grapevine spray at the center with a butterfly, framed by a dense geometric and floral border. Impressed SPODE mark to the reverse, dating it to the first half of the 19th century. The all-over crazing and soft toning are exactly the patina collectors love in early Staffordshire. A beautiful tablescape or shelf piece. Please note honest age wear: overall crazing and light staining throughout, consistent with its age.
